Do you think wireless carriers will begin selling and subsidizing laptops to rev up demand for their new high-speed networks?

Advertising via SMS

Does anyone have advertising via SMS as part of their marketing plan for 2008?

Ooohhh ... somewhat of an intrusion if you ask me.

I for one hate junk mail in my (snail) mailbox mixed in with bills and checks.

    Most people hate junk email.

Junk text messages are just plain wrong and annoying especially if the customer pays for each message.

Not to mention, that activity is strictly prohibited by Sprint Nextel. In fact, we are not supposed to call or email our customers to offer them any kind of unsolicited sales promotion. We can only mail to them if we use our co op vendor.

To break it down to the ridiculous ... I cannot call my customer to tell them that they are eligible for an upgrade and to come on down to the store. However Sprint regularly calls our customers and makes them phone offers that under cut what we can offer ourselves! I cannot send my customer an email to thank them for coming in today (unless the email makes NO MENTION of Sprint. Sprint routinely emails my customers newsletters offering them prices on phones that we cannot match. I cannot send my customer a thank you note thanking them for buying their phone from me. Sprint bombards my customers with mailer offers that ... yes again ... we cannot match.
